AMARC Seminar in Brazil on the new communications law and community radio stations

 The seminar under the theme "A new law for community radio: the regulatory framework and the right to communicate" is organized by the World Association of Community Radio, and will take place in Arroio do Sal (RS) on May 12 and will count with the presence of a representative of the Inter-American Court of human

Rights.

AMARC Brazil wants the seminars to be places for the empowerment of civil society and for joint work leading to the establishment of an enabling a regulatory framework for the sector. The objective is to build a new legislation that allows for the exercise of communication rights and freedom of expression. In addition to Maria Pia Matta, President of AMARC, the seminar will receive Michael Camilleri, member of the Special Rapporteur on freedom of expression of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

A workshop will be organized by Pulsar Brazil May 13, to present to these radios AMARC and its network of women. The cycle of meetings in Brasilia in November end, where a summary of the proposal collected editions of the seminar will be submitted to the government.
