The global awareness campaign was launched in January 2014 and was followed by three regional campaigns in the second half of the year. During the latter phase, community radios were invited to join in to share information with the farming community, sending their own radio productions regarding community media and rural development.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in partnership with the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), is hosting an international Forum on Communication for Development and Community Media for Family Farming (FCCM) on October 23-24th, 2014.
The Forum will take place at FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy from 23-24 October 2014 to raise awareness about the role of ComDev methods and tools as drivers for innovation and family farmers’ participation in rural development strategies. It will also identify opportunities for new demand-driven rural communication services as an integral part of public policies for rural and agricultural development.
